Anti Foul Paints

Born in Mevagissey, Cornwall with some fifty years in wooden boats in the West Country, France and the East Coast I have tried most of the major antifoulings. Depending on the salinity or temperature of the sea, they all work better or worse. Our sea temperatures are rising, worm is increasing and it is therefore becomes evermore important that we keep abreast of this.

Teamac Marine Paints do so with their constant testing and improving products to move with the changing times. With this policy they have produced a new Anti Foul for 2002 called New Antifoul `D' reviewed in Yachting Monthly 2001 awarded best value for money against 9 others. and Killa Copper Premium. I used it in 1999 to test and am very pleased with the results. Bearing in mind that I went to sea just 4 times in that year the hull is remarkably clean.

Antifouling Paints

Teamac New Antifoul 'D'

This is a new product. A soft ablative Antifoul which after being applied in two coats should not be scrubbed. It is very suitable for vessels that are afloat all the time and not subjected to hard use when coming alongside or taking the bottom at low water. I have used this product since 1999 and am very pleased with the result.

Teamac Tropical Killa

This is a hard scrubbable Antifoul paint. Both of these Antifouls are NEW products and meet the necessary criteria for todays sea conditions around U.K. and near Europe. All paints etc have to conform to a B.S. Standard. Both of these new products far exceed this. Having a boat of my own which I antifoul each year with 15 litres I save a considerable sum on the well advertised brands yet have the same performance. Ask yourself the question . . . . See Yachting Monthly 2001 March issue for comparisons with ten different brands.

Quantum is Jotuns very latest self eroding antifoul in the marketplace. They claim three to five years working life, and it is as efficient as old TBT antifoul was before it was banned. Sea Quantum conforms to all EEC specifications. It is well worth the money. See under.

Jotun Sea Guardian Antifoul Green

20 litre drums Jotun Self Eroding Sea Guardian GREEN. I have always used red antifouling on my own boat but this year decided to go green. Against black bulwarks, cream painted hull and black boottop it looks stunning. But the real advantage is in the life of this antifoul. Sea Guardian always came out tops in all antifoul tests.
